Welcome
Welcome to the Birdwell & Hoyland Common community portal - a village website for residents of Birdwell, Hoyland, Hoyland Common, Worsbrough Village, Tankersley and Pilley near Barnsley, South Yorkshire!
About this site.
Day by day we see our villages grow in size. Many rural qualities have become eroded as fresh development expands our community and spreads it far and wide. A level of anonymity has developed akin to a large town, as the number of residents expands so the village feel diminishes.
We hope our web site helps to bridge gaps within our community and facilitates healthy topical debate, the exchange of knowledge and ideas, and provides a platform for residents to express their views.

Please feel free to visit our forums, sign up (it’s free!) and communicate with others, rant & rave, air your frustrations or just have a nice friendly chat.
Our website also contains lots of useful information about things to see and do around Birdwell, Hoyland, Hoyland Common, Worsbrough Village, Tankersley and Pilley as well as information for people who are looking to move into any of these villages.
We also have a local history section which contains lots of useful information for local residents and a family history discussion group which you can use to help research your family origins.
A new photographs section allows you to view and submit your photographs from past and present.
